Not all acts of daring are big—some are small and rather personal. And even the bravest feats can begin humbly . . . in the imagination. The 40 ideas on these pages were meant to encourage participants of GRID|11, an event held in the home where Alfred Nobel invented dynamite, to try doing something outside of their comfort zone—maybe just a small thing, but one that might later lead to a big thing.

Readers/experimenters were encouraged to use the book itself however they liked:

“Perhaps you’ll choose to note the outcome of each prompt in one of the empty spaces nearby. Or make some lists of other tricks to try. Feel free to write or draw anywhere you want. And cut, rip, and fold. And tape, staple, and clip. There are no rules here, only suggestions. So try ten of them. Or one. Or all of them. Or none. Or make up your own.”
